You may know the Jurassic period from movies, games, and books, but there’s more to this time than meets the eye. Let’s see which dinosaurs and other creatures existed back then.
The Jurassic period is probably one of the most famous times of the dinosaurs, ever since Jurassic Park became a hit in movies, games, and books. It’s the second-longest of the three periods in the Mesozoic era, with an extinction-level event that separates it from the Triassic period. However, there’s no clear ending that leads into the Cretaceous.
Some of the most popular dinosaurs are in the Jurassic period. Some of them include Allosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Compsognathus, Kentrosaurus, and many more. Surprisingly, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptor only made an appearance in the Cretaceous period. Still, there’s plenty of activity during the Jurassic to be excited about.
Besides dinosaurs and other ancient beasts, we’ll take a look at the fauna and geology of that time. You’ll also see what sets the Jurassic period apart from the other two. Finally, we’ll study each of the ages within it and what you would have found back then.
