The Cretaceous period is the last stage of the Mesozoic era, featuring the longest timeline with several ages. As such, there were plenty of dinosaur species alive at that time, including T Rex, Velociraptor, Archeopteryx, and Diplodocus. There are also several lesser known ones, which we will delve into in this section.
This period is also famous for the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event, well known for when the dinosaurs became extinct. While we’ll cover this event, we’ll specifically focus on what was life like for these ancient beasts, breaking into each of the ages in the Early and Late Cretaceous.
